Pros

Good Pace & Defensive Transitions

Petit is surprisingly quick for a CDM, allowing him to cover ground effectively. His acceleration helps him recover in defensive transitions and track back swiftly during counterattacks.

Powerful Long Shots

He has a rocket of a shot from distance. His long shots, especially with his strong foot, are highly effective, making him a real scoring threat from outside the box. If given space, he can fire shots that trouble goalkeepers.

Aggressive Man-Marking & Pressing

Petit constantly applies pressure on opponents, making it difficult for them to build attacks. His ability to cut off passing lanes and track runners makes him highly disruptive in midfield.

Elite Defensive Abilities

His defensive attributes stand out, with strong standing tackles that allow him to win the ball cleanly. His sliding tackles are also very effective, often breaking down dangerous plays. Additionally, his blocking ability makes him crucial when defending against long-range shots.

Exceptional Awareness & Reactions

Petit is quick to recognize threats, react to second balls, and position himself well in midfield. His ability to read the game allows him to intercept passes effectively and stop opposition attacks before they develop.

Precise Passing & Distribution

His passing is top-tier for a CDM. He can play accurate short passes to retain possession and deliver well-weighted through balls to launch counterattacks. His passing vision helps in distributing the ball efficiently under pressure.

Strong Physical Presence & Aerial Dominance

Standing tall at 6’1”, Petit has a solid build, making him difficult to dispossess. His physicality helps him win duels, shield the ball, and outmuscle opponents in midfield battles. His height also gives him an advantage in aerial duels, making him useful during defensive and attacking set-pieces.

Ball Control & Forward Runs

Despite being a CDM, Petit is comfortable carrying the ball forward. He can hold up play when needed and make progressive runs to support attacks. His close control allows him to maneuver under pressure without losing possession.

"Dives into Tackles" Trait

This trait enhances his tackling ability, allowing him to execute aggressive tackles with precision. It makes him even more effective in breaking up plays and recovering possession.

Cons

Occasional Positioning Issues

Petit’s natural instinct to push forward can sometimes leave gaps in midfield, especially when attacking. He occasionally drifts out of position, which can expose the defense if he’s not covered by another midfielder. A more disciplined CDM partner or defensive tactics may be needed to balance his forward movements.

Conclusion

Petit is a dominant CDM who excels in both defensive and attacking aspects. His strong tackling, pressing, and awareness make him a nightmare for opponents, while his long shots and passing add an attacking dimension to his game. His pace and physicality allow him to control the midfield effectively. However, his tendency to push forward means he works best alongside a more defensive-minded midfielder to maintain balance.
